Hi All,
We've gotten some criticism that the CAR-PGA should just tell everyone to stop playing. In the article, we specifically advise that conventions should be cancelled for the next 60 days. However, there are still large groups who get together and play. In fact, we've seen this happening throughout the U.S. where groups who get together (usually younger folks) are still gathering at bars, beaches, and even parents with their kids at playgrounds. This advice is for them:
- Don't play tabletop games with people who are outside of your immediate circle of family and friends for the next 60 days. This means that everyone must enact the same self-quarantine measures. If there is a gamer at your table who has other family that you don't regularly interact with, then they are outside your circle and you shouldn't play with them for the next 60 days. This means you may be limited to playing with family only for the next two months.
That said, I've moved some of the advice around in the article so it's clear that playing with people outside your immediate family circle is not advised. I've also added a note indicating that gamers should follow the advice of medical professionals and local governments first. There's now also a timestamp as to when we last updated it, because this situation is definitely fluid and we'll need to revisit the guidance as we learn more about the pandemic.
Not everyone is clear on what the alternative should be other than "play online." We'll work on that next.
In the meantime, you can help. Share the infographic, urge people to read the text and NOT just the infographic, and encourage gamers to think before they game. Thank you for your support!
Sincerely,
Mike
