[CAR-PGa] I wrote my senior thesis on D&D and thought some of you would enjoy it

My senior thesis is on the formation of online communities around D&D and the use of online tools to play the game. I hope that some of you would like to read it!

[CAR-PGa] Comments on Newsletter for January 2019

Greetings,

Many thanks to M. Alan Thomas II, & Paul Cardwell for their years of
efforts.

And thanks to the folks stepping up to try to save and grow CAR-PGa:
David Millians, Ted Skirvin, & Michael Tresca.

Some thoughts in response to the newsletter...

If not going to another commercial platform, like MeWe, I would like to
propose considering connecting with RPG Research and sharing resources
and hosting. We will still all need to posting links to the various
social networks, but it is better if it is all directed to the CAR-PGa
website rather than stuck in social network silos and membership walls.

RPG Research has offered to freely share hosting with CAR-PGa to get a
website up and running quickly. Base setup time is about 5 minutes, and
then can be incrementally improved quickly over time.

I'll checkout the CAR-PGa Facebook, but definitely need to be pointing
folks back to a "real" site. I am running into an increasing number
people in the RPG community and other people refusing to use Facebook
for a variety of reasons. Just at PAX Unplugged last month, I ran into
more than 20 people that strongly stated they refused to go to any
resources at Facebook.

I'm suggesting we should still post to FB and other SN's, but link them
back to the site for the content.

Regarding the archives, I would like to offer help from RPG Research.
We are about to hit 50 volunteers this month! And I can provide locked,
safe storage, and have multiple scanners and staff that could start the
digitizing effort as part of their volunteership. If it is too
expensive and risky to ship by any kind of mailing service, depending
on the size/weight, I could make a road trip across the country with
the RPG Bus to pick up the archives and bring them back safely. I would
cover all the transport costs in that case.

Thanks for everything you do!
Sincerely,

Hawke Robinson
