D&D badge:
Interesting, there is a magnifying glass rather than a polyhedral die. Bill mentions that D&D sponsored it (TSR, WotC?). I am wondering if it might be one of a category similar to the Canadian "troop specialty badges". These are designed by a specific troop, but count the same as any other badge. Does anyone know if this is an analogous situation? Or for that matter, if it is still an official badge (certainly enough BSA badges have been phased out over the years).
I agree with Bill that an advocacy badge would be better, or at least an RPG (generic) badge would get a lot more support from publishers of other game systems.

Subject: [car-pga] A REAL D&D merit badge
(Cut and pasted from The Escapist Blog - theescapist.com/blog)
In response to my previous post on scouting badges (http://
www.theescapist.com/blog/tiki-view_blog_post.php?blogId=5&postId=181),
Escapist reader Darrell Impey wrote in with the following:
"You know, there was a time when the UK Scouting hobbies badge was
sponsored by D&D, there's even one available on ebay at the moment...
ViewItem&item=350330483305&ih=022&category=404&ssPageName=mem_guide:

And here is a picture that I grabbed, in case the eBay page gets taken
down:

I still like my roleplaying advocacy badge a bit better, but it's good
to know that some UK scouts were able to display their geek pride this
way.
