ABC has done a short piece on child actors in mature films, asking if
it does any psychological damage to them. It discuses the ability to
distinguish between fantasy and reality, managing that on-set, warning
signs, etc., but goes on to suggest that children playing make-believe
at home are in more danger. Obviously some of this is generalizable to
children (or adults) and role-playing games. Take a look:
