So as I've been covering more RPG news lately it's come to my
attention that the month of March is getting rather crowded for RPG
events. We have:
* Read a RPG Book in Public Week (first week of March)
* GM's Day (March 4)
* Anniversary of Gary Gygax's death (March 4)
* National Adventure Writing Month (all of March)
I can't help but wonder if the assorted forces at work should
consolidate their efforts. GM's Day, for example, is almost always a
week as it's in the best interest of publishers to stretch it out.
Would it be better to have a GM's Week that coincides with Read a RPG
Book in Public? Like the publishers offer discounts and encourage
readers to take pictures of gamers reading their books in public? Or
even have adventure writing contests tied to the promotion of certain
RPGs?
All these events seem to raise awareness of the hobby. I think cross-
promotion and coordination might help everybody -- I'm concerned that
gamers are going to get "event fatigue" with so many gaming-specific
events concentrated at the same time.
