Re: [CAR-PGa] Re: Calgary, Alberta: Concerning policy change regarding in store games

I was just watching an interesting online lecture in the TED series by Geoffrey West on how cities, companies, and biological organisms all follow the same pattern of growth and death.  This may be what is happing with Sentry Post.  West also shows how this can be delayed in human institutions (cities and companies) by redesigning during the period of rapid growth be essentially starting over with a new "hockey stick" on the graph.  It is well worth watching (all TED lectures must be under 20 minutes), especially the good people at Sentry Post.  Your analysis fits it exactly.

The section that catches my eye here is the following:

I can only see two scenarios here: Either the location is falling
apart from age and use and an unavoidable rise in maintenance and
renovation/replacement costs requires maximizing revenue per square
foot—sad but understandable—or the property is being negligently or
maliciously destroyed by the users. In the former case, perhaps there
might be an alternative solution for such one-time costs (e.g., a
fundraising drive for a maintenance fund). In the latter case, a quick
review of the area after each event should be able to spot most of the
damage and result in fines or banning.
