Re: [CAR-PGa] Re: founder of DragonCon in trouble again

We have a substantial file on Kramer, going back over a decade.  Nowhere, until this, is there any mention of religion or ethnos.  I find it a little difficult to substantiate a claim of "anti-Semitism" when there is no mention of either.  Never mind that the Semitic groups getting hit most today are Arabs, and by extension, Muslims (despite the fact that Arabs are a minority in Islam).  The surname is meaningless in this also.  The only Kramers I know are Baptist, Methodist, and not anything in particular.

You are right that one can "be a victim of discrimination AND a pedophile", but it is a weak argument that one can be the victim of discrimination  when the identity of that discrimination is never mentioned or even alluded to.  At least being a quarter of the organizers of a major convention was mentioned - in 2000 repeatedly.  For that matter, do we have any published connection between Kramer and gaming?  DragonCon was and is primarily a SF/Fantasy fan con, even though gaming is a significant part of it.

I struggled with writing the article, because as a parent my knee-jerk
reaction isn't a positive one.  There's an entire side to the story
that argues Kramer is the victim of anti-Semitism:
http://atlantajewish.com/content/2004/edkramer.html.  That article has
more facts about the case (putting aside its bias in favor of Kramer)
than any other article I've read to date.

Of course, popular media seems to require a reader "pick sides" -- you
can't be a victim of discrimination AND a pedophile, you're either one
or the other.

In any case, several major points -- like the fairly damning evidence
of pornographic material at his house -- was actually thrown out in
court. But you won't find that in most articles.

In the end I chose to focus on the defense I'm primarily concerned
with -- his affiliation with the gaming community.
