Job Title: Java Architect      
Location: Denver, CO     
Duration: 6+ Month contract 

Responsibilities:
Plans and leads the design of development framework and architecture
Works with Enterprise Architecture Group to assure a clear vision and direction to development infrastructures and frameworks
Consults with vendors, business partners and facilities on overall development strategy and frameworks
Plans and directs standardization efforts in areas relating to development
Mentors other developers and analysts
Oversees complex configuration of application instances based on user and vendor requirements on major applications or development environments
Sets and oversees application coding standards and customized structures in groupware environment standards
Works closely with managers, project managers and business partner leaders to define and develop or implementation major software applications
Works with other technical staff, users and leadership to help them understand potential application functionality, development approaches, possible enhancements and process improvements
Subject matter expert and internal consultant for other developers on application coding and framework issues
Acts as a general internal consultant on development and technical initiatives
Supports standardization of documentation and processes within ITS
Collaborates in team environments and independently with vendors, business partners and IT teams on projects, support, application development and standardization
Coaches other Developers and Technical Analysts, business partners and facilities in creating requirements and specification creation
Collaborates with business and facility leadership on development of application standardization
Oversees efforts with key vendors to understand future application product plans in conjunction with IT leadership
Oversees and sets, with input, in defining application architecture and setting future architecture
Provides guidance to IT leadership, in conjunction with EAG, to application environments and other IT frameworks
Conducts weekly intra-team architecture reviews with developers to ensure interface and integration application package design patterns are adhered to as set forth by the EI Enterprise Architects.
Conducts code reviews, as needed
Participates in weekly EI Architecture Team meeting to collaborate with other functional architects and enterprise architects on high-level designs and other issues impacting the EI team as a whole.
Responsible for continual improvements in IT efficiency and effectiveness around Project design improvement and Infrastructure simplification.
Improves alignment of project decisions to EA road maps by performing governance over projects to check for compliance with defined architecture standards
Works with other technical staff, users, and leadership to help them understand potential application functionality, development approaches, possible enhancements, and process improvements.
Works with new functional team staff and mentors them on development standards, SDLC processes, documentation, and departmental EAI norms.
Subject matter expert and internal consultant for other developers on application coding and framework issues.
Acts as a general internal consultant on development and technical issues.
Coaches other Developers and Technical analysts, business partners, and facilities in creating requirements and specification creation.
Oversees, defines, and sets, with input from EI Architects, current application architecture and future architecture.

Requirements:
Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field preferred or may substitute an equivalent combination of education and experience.
7+ years of total IT/application experience
Technical knowledge with Product/Vendor Analysis and software support
Experience working directly with vendors
Knowledge of programming concepts and software development life cycle processes and methodologies.
Experience successfully delivering distributed, multi-tier software products to customers.
Advanced experience in large multi-site enterprise application environments
Extensive market knowledge of Integration / Interface Engines required
Extensive knowledge of design patterns of message oriented middleware required
Strong background of business process orchestration preferred
Extensive Java and J2EE background
Extensive integration experience in a Enterprise level health care organization highly preferred
Detailed knowledge of HL7 and/or X12 standards referred
Strong knowledge of SOA / web services connectivity highly preferred
Strong background of SDLC processes required
Strong background in integration development highly preferred
Strong integration infrastructure knowledge highly preferred
Background with HIE, EMPI, EAHR systems highly preferred
