Job Title: Project Manager
Location: Columbus,OH
Duration: 6+ Month Project

 

Requirement:
Client is seeking a Project Manager for a contract role to be responsible for orchestrating software-related development projects ranging from small initiatives to major business projects.  This includes planning, tracking, measuring, and reporting on status of projects through the entire development lifecycle according to client project management standards.  He or she interfaces with other internal client departments and external vendors to deliver business solutions.
 
MAJOR DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
40%:  Manage software development projects to successful delivery on time and on budget.  Typically includes scoping, estimating, planning, resourcing, tracking, measuring, reporting status, managing risks, support transition, and project closure.  Projects may be custom development or implementations of third-party systems.
30%:  Manage development staff including client employees, onshore or offshore consultants.  Develop team and individual objectives in support of overall department objectives.  Complete performance evaluations for team members.
10%:   Track, measure, and communicate progress to management and customers.
10%:   Manage risk and make mitigating decisions or report appropriately as issues arise.
10%:   Comply with and contribute to the development and refinement of project management processes.

 

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's Degree                                                                         
Related Work Experience: 6-8 years 
Project Management/Software Development Manager experience; managing multiple projects and/or software development initiatives
Experience with project/resource management tools, project financial tracking, risk management, and software development life cycle and project management life cycle processes and disciplines
Experience in 1 or more commercial or custom full life cycle SDLC and/or Project Management methodologies
Experience in managing projects for development of software in a real time, 24X7 environment involving numerous systems and subsystems and interdependencies
Demonstrated ability to learn and quickly comprehend new concepts
Demonstrated strong oral and written communication and presentation skills
Experience facilitating meetings with multiple customers and technical staff, including building consensus and mediating compromises when necessary
Ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects or initiatives
Demonstrated strong problem-solving skills
Demonstrated ability to make clear, quick decisions and judgments in time-sensitive, pressure situations
Demonstrated leadership and management skills, including delegating, mentoring, and coaching
Experience writing project plans and developing project schedules
Experience using MS Project or similar tools
Experience producing project status reports for multiple audiences
Experience in risk management
Experience in change management
Demonstrated ability to ensure quality through the software lifecycle
Experience in change and scope management
Passion and ability in providing excellent customer service
Job will require evening/weekend work to meet project deliverables

 

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
Course of Study/Major: Information Technology or Computer Science
Work Experience: 8-10 years
Experience in multiple project management methodologies
Experience in a wide range of software development technologies and architectures
Knowledge of general or commercial aviation
