On the 2nd of February, the first German "Gratisrollenspieltag" will
take place. It is modeled on the English Free RPG Day (started in 2007),
which in turn may be based on the Free Comic Book Day (started in 2002).
More than sixty retailers and forty organizations are participating (in
Switzerland and Austria, too). About 25 publishers (all the bigger ones,
from a German RPG perspective, as well as a number of one-man/
independent press publishers) offer free products.

My local FLGS simply had no space to host this, but I was lucky and got
the "Studentenwerk" involved (public institution offering a range of
services to university students, including cultural activities).
Somebody else in another town organizes the event via the volunteer fire
department. A nice side benefit might be that we don't just get to see
the usual suspects, but also some newcomers to the hobby.
Anyway, I'll post my impressions once the thing is over. But first, I'm
interested in your experiences: have any of you been part of the Free
RPG Day (run a demo, own a shop...)? Any thoughts, ideas, suggestions?
