Data Scientist with experience with Big Data platforms (Hadoop, Hive, Pig, MapReduce, etc,) and advanced proficiency with real time predictive modeling techniques to deploy cutting edge analytical and predictive modeling support to internal constituents in the following areas:
• Preparation of complex and large volume of structured and unstructured data coming from multiple integrated systems
• Predictive Analysis to improve customer experience and persistence. Discovery of insights from large volume and high velocity unstructured data for business to develop targeted strategies for improved student experience.
• Data governance (e.g. defining metrics for new reports, database management, etc.)
• Design and analysis of controlled randomized tests (e.g. multivariate testing)
Requirements:
• Graduate degree in statistics, econometrics, applied mathematics, physics, computer science, engineering, or quantitative field required.
• Five or more years of work experience in an analytics role. At least two years of experience in writing algorithms and building models in a Big Data environment. Prior work experience in higher education industry is preferred. In addition, analytics experience in Learning Management System
(LMS), adaptive and competency based learning is a plus.
• Strong skills in programming languages such as R / SAS, Java / Python, Pig, Mahout or SQL required. The candidate needs to have an understanding of Hadoop, Hive and / or Map Reduce. Knowledge f writing APIs for data extraction is a plus. Using the tools above, the candidate needs to be
familiar with disciplines such as:
• Natural Language Processing
• Machine Learning
• Statistical Analysis and Predictive Modeling
