AS400 / ISeries Engineer
Location : Des Moines , Iowa
12+ Months Contract
The Midrange iSeries (AS400) Support Engineer focuses on operations, problem and incident management of IBM iSeries (AS400) servers. His/her major responsibility is to minimize the amount of unplanned downtime in customer's production environment and to deliver services with excellence.
Responsibilities:
• Works on incidents and customers' service requests to identify and solve problems
• Defines and executes changes to the customer's environment
• Consults the customer within area of expertise
• Coordinates the implementation and management of IBM iSeries (AS400) Servers
Qualifications
Requirements:
- Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Management or relevant experience
- Knowledge in iSeries (AS400) OS installation, configuration and administration
- Work with HMC
- Very good English language communication skills
- Problem-solving and root cause analysis skills
- Willingness and motivation to learn new technologies
- Ability to work in a dynamic environment
- Team player
Any of the following will be taken as an advantage:
- Hardware Problem Analysis and Isolation
- Diagnostic Tools for System Administrators
- System and Security
- Performance management
- CL programming
- Tape Library management
- HA (High Availability) Tools, e.g.: MIMIX and Vision(OMS/ODS)
- Help Systems Tools, e.g.: Robot/SCHEDULE and Robot/ALERT, etc.
- Messaging Tools, e.g. MQM.
