Since it based on a Muslim specific approach, one has to take that
context into account.

But notice the list of reference material at the end of note.

[CAR-PGa] True Detective

From Ted Skirvin (whose access to this group is blocked at the moment):

There is a TV series called True Detective. Each season has a different protagonist. For season three, the protagonist was investigating a missing brother and sister. In the first episode, they show the boy's room and they show a fictional D&D supplement called The Forests of Leng. If I'm not mistaken, it has the logo of Advanced Dungeons & Dragons 2nd edition on the cover. However, the disappearance takes place in 1980 which is before AD&D 2nd edition was published. The characters do mention a little about the kids playing the game in the woods. No character ever says "Dungeons & Dragons" in the show. A few shots show the typical dice set. After that first episode no games are mentioned and the show does not portray an RPG as being to blame.

[CAR-PGa] Comics

There's a comic out from some reliable geeks. Looks like a very dark, modern take on the whole "transported into an RPG world / RPG becomes reality / something" genre, although knowing the author it will never be that simple.

[CAR-PGa] Join Us!

Hi All,

As a fan of the Committee for the Advancement of Role-Playing Games (CAR-PGA) we invite you to formally join our membership. Joining membership will put you on our newsletter distribution list and give you formal voting rights.

To join CAR-PGa, just fill out the membership form here: http://www.car-pga.org/join-us/. It will automatically send an email to the Chair with your information and we'll add you to our distribution list; there are no joining fees.

To remain a member you need to "pay your dues," but these are not necessarily monetary dues; all that we ask is that you do something—anything—for the cause. This can be as simple as keeping yourself informed by subscribing to the Newsletter or as complex as doing scientific research on role-playing games and getting it published. For more information about membership and how we operate, see the Members' Manual: http://www.car-pga.org/membership-manual.

Thank you for your consideration and we hope you'll join us!

Sincerely,

Mike
CAR-PGA Chair

[CAR-PGa] Re: What Does This Group Stand For?

Okay then, so assuming some overlap, between the Google Group, LinkedIn, and Facebook we have the potential for an additional 35 members. I will send out the Join Me! link to everyone in all three social media and then compile a database of our membership. Paul just tested out the link, so thanks for your submission, it works!

You bring up a good point, in that there isn't a centralized database of actual members. At this point, we have several means of being a part of CAR-PGA. Below are summaries of each membership along with a link:

One thing of note is that times have changed and we are no longer able to ask questions about criminal background, etc. due to the Global Data Privacy Regulations that went into effect in 2016. I changed some of the original questions to just be more generic and make it easier to sign up.

If you're all amenable, I would be happy to send a link to this form (I created a new sign-up form: http://www.car-pga.org/join-us/) out to our existing "fans" in other social media to invite them to full membership, and then we can create a database of members based on that feedback. It's worth noting that we probably can't publish it publicly to protect them from spam, but could provide the full list on request.

It seems to me that this group should be the champion of this kind of dialogue, even if you don't necessarily agree that things should change -- we should at least be asking the questions. Re: [CAR-PGa] Abridged summary of car...@googlegroups.com - 1 update in 1 topic

Welcome back Roger! We're more active on social than ever before. Here's where we're at now:
  • Web site: http://www.car-pga.org
  • Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/carpga
  • LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/groups/4439688/

I now socially share content we post to our web site (the newsletter specifically) with the other two social outlets to spread the good word, so here's hoping we see an increase in traffic and membership.

More to come!
