Thanks for the channel to help the residents in Christchurch. The note was timed perfectly as it will be posted on both the discussion list and the March Newsletter.
CAR-PGa once had a member in Christchurch, who suddenly disappeared without a trace. Trying to find him, I went to the Dallas Public Library which had a whole room of phone directories at that time. He wasn't in the Christchurch directory, but the back cover was interesting. It contained instructions for what to do in case of: earthquake, wildfire, tsunami, volcanic eruption, and cyclone. But otherwise seemed a nice little city.
A 7.1 in September and now a 6.3, both with an extreme number of aftershocks in the 4. something range, has hit the place hard. No fatalities in the first, but structural weakening from it showed up in the second. With over a hundred still missing, the death toll is not yet known, but will be high. Already injuries have overwhelmed the facilities.
